BOONE COUNTY, Ind. -- Senator Mike Braun celebrated his victory at Moontown Brewing in Whitestown with family, friends, and supporters.

They watched as he gave his first speech as the official GOP nominee for Indiana Governor.

"When you run these campaigns, it's about flushing out what the important issues are," Braun said to the crowded room. "You have thick skin to get through it, then you have to be very forgiving and don't hold any grudges if you're going to actually get something done once you jump the first hurdle, then when we jump the next one in November."

The next six months, Senator Braun and his campaign will be working hard to jump that next hurdle, now facing Democrat Jennifer McCormick one-on-one.

He claims he will be the most entrepreneurial and accessible governor the state has seen, which is one of his top campaign priorities as a decades-long entrepreneur, treating his constituents like customers and listening to issues.

Ending Tuesday night's celebrations, Braun made it clear he feels ready and prepared for November.

"We are headed onto a journey which, I hope you challenge me, I'll be challenging you, and we're going to take this state to a place we never seen before," said Braun as he closed out his speech.

In response to Braun being selected as the GOP nominee for governor, Indiana Democratic Party Chair Mike Schmul said in part:

"Tonight's results show it's clear that Hoosiers want a different, new direction for our state. Despite spending over $40 million, the Republican candidates for governor saw historically low turnout in a presidential primary, lower than 2020 and just half the turnout of 2016."
