EMMETT TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A Michigan man is out of a job because he tried to defend himself while at work.
A man armed with a BB gun came into an Emmett Township Speedway gas station demanding cash.
The clerk then pulled a knife on the man. The man with the gun left with nothing.
Because store policy says employees are supposed to hand money over to robbers, the clerk was fired.
"I work all week long for $200 and he's gonna walk in and out with 3, $400," said Derrick Rathman, the former Speedway employee. "Nah, I don't like thieves. I can't stand them."
Police say they have a person of interest in the case but no arrests have been made.
