Bridging the healthcare gap in Michiana
MISHAWAKA, Ind.--- Several businesses and restaurants in St. Joseph County still held New Year's Eve celebrations despite the pandemic. Smokestack Brew in Mishawaka held a concert where people in attendance wore masks and enjoyed live music.
"As of the turnout what it seems like from people calling and asking information it seems like a really good turnout.," said Brandi Blank, Smokestack's manager. "We are very, very stern on our mask requirements and the normal COVID rules so if you don’t comply you will be removed."
Some people living in Michiana chose a smaller celebration of 2021.
"I’m going to be celebrating at home with a few of my close friends and my family just to keep things sort of quiet and small," said Ian Smith, who lives in South Bend.
Both Smith and Blank say they are looking forward to the endless possibilities a new year brings as 2021 is ushered in.
"I think that tomorrow marks the first page of a 365 page book that’s up for you to write," said Smith.
"Any day can be the last day for whatever is going on so just have fun," said Blank.
