Michiana Crime Stoppers Increases Speedy Reward Payout
SOUTH BEND, Ind., --- Michiana Crime Stoppers increased its Speedy Reward payout in the new year.
The organization who's celebrating its 40th year increased its speedy reward from $200 to $300 for a tip that leads to the arrest of a fugitive
(a person who already has a warrant issued against them).
In 2022 the Crime Stoppers board of directors also increased rewards for tips on homicides from $1,000 to $2,500.
In addition, the organization implemented its "Victory over Violence" pilot program which helps combat felony crimes with firearms.
Those anonymous tips are eligible for an automatic $1,000.
"By increasing these reward payouts, we are hopeful that more people who know something… will say something," said Lt. Kayla Miller, Michiana Crime Stoppers Coordinator.
In 40 years, the organization said they've assisted in solving more than 11,170 cases, more than 8,400 arrests, aided in recovering more than $18 million in narcotics and stolen property, and have authorized more than $1.1 million in rewards.
