Mayor Pete Buttigieg appoints new member to Board of Public Safety

SOUTH BEND, Ind.—The City announced Friday that Mayor Pete Buttigieg has appointed Melissa Colpitts to the Board of Public Safety.

Colpitts will fill an empty position on the board and will be its fifth member.

According to the City, Colpitts, a South Bend native, is currently the Human Resources Generalist and Benefits Coordinator for the City of South Bend. She graduated from Bethel University and has been involved with Hannah’s House, Take 10 at South Bend Public Schools and Junior Achievement.

The Board of Public Safety acts as the administrative arm for the South Bend Police and Fire departments. It is comprised of five members and the Clerk.
