UPDATE: Man stabbed in Elkhart arrested for unrelated domestic battery, police investigating stabbing
ELKHART, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Elkhart Police Department reports they're continuing to investigate a stabbing that occurred in the 400 block of Wagner Avenue Wednesday night.
Police responded to a call of a stabbing on Wagner Avenue around 7:55 p.m., Wednesday.
EPD officers and first responders arrived and found a stabbing victim, identified as 51-year-old Aaron Jennings of Niles.
The report states Jennings was taken to the hospital for treatment and through the investigation, officers determined probable cause existed to arrest him for an unrelated domestic battery which occurred earlier that day.
Jennings was medically cleared and arrested.
He was booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of Domestic Battery, a Class A Misdemeanor, and Disorderly Conduct, a Class B Misdemeanor.
Documents state a judicial officer found probable cause for Jennings' arrest and set his bond at $5,000.
Jennings' arrest has been forwarded to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal charges.
Police say this is an active investigation, and as of Thursday, no arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing.
Authorities believe this to be an isolated incident, and that there's no danger to the public.
ORIGINAL STORY: The Elkhart 911 Communications Center received a call at approximately 7:55 p.m. for a report of a stabbing in the 400 block of Wagner Ave.
Upon arrival, officers located a male with stab wounds.
The victim was transported to a local hospital by medics for injury treatment, with no current update on his condition.
This is an active and ongoing investigation.
