LA PORTE, Ind. -- On Friday at 12:26 a.m., Alex Dekock, of La Porte, crashed into a residence after fleeing a scene while pursued by a deputy.
Deputy Alexander Nolan approached a vehicle with only one headlight illuminated on S.R. 2. As he approached from behind, the vehicle it began to rapidly accelerate. Nolan then pursued the vehicle as they traveled down to the intersection of U.S. 35 and C.R. 400.
The vehicle failed to negotiate the T-intersection and traveled east across all lanes of U.S. 35. The vehicle continued traveling east until it drove onto a private property located in the 3900-south block of U.S. 35.
The fleeing vehicle crashed with a parked SUV and collided with the front of a residence before coming to a stop.
A woman inside the residence sustained a lower body injury.
Dekock refused medical treatment at the scene. He was transported to Northwest Health Hospital before being sent to La Porte County Jail.
Dekock was charged on resisting law enforcement, a Level 6 Felony, Operating while Intoxicated, a Level A Misdemeanor, and Reckless Driving, a Level B Misdemeanor.
