BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Berrien County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a home in the 5800 block of Erie Street in Hagar Township on Sept. 27 around 5 a.m. for an active breaking and entering after a neighbor noticed suspicious activity.

Deputies arrived to see a U-Haul truck leaving a home at a high speed.

Authorities attempted to make a traffic stop on the truck, which was unsuccessful.

The suspect driver then led deputies on a short pursuit.

The truck stopped at one point, before reversing and ramming into a police car, disabling it.

One suspect fled the scene on foot, while another crawled away from the truck.

The driver, identified as 47-year-old Ira Clough of South Haven, was left behind and taken into custody.

Authorities say a check of the residence confirmed forced entry had occurred.

Several deputies with two K9s attempted to track and locate the two suspects who fled on foot. Despite several hours of searching, the suspects were not located.

BCSO is asking for the public's assistance in identifying the two outstanding individuals for prosecution.

Clough was arrested and charged with Fleeing and Eluding, Aggravated Felonious Assault, Burglary – Forced Entry, Possession of Stolen Property, Damage to Property, Violation of Controlled Substance, Obstructing Police, and Weapons Offense.
