MISHAWAKA, Ind. -- Court documents state 25-year-old Jameer Anderson has been charged with robbery, a level five felony, after allegedly robbing a woman of her purse, debit cards, $1,500, iPhone, and more, on July 11.
The affidavit states officers from the Mishawaka Police Department responded to a report of robbery. They met with the woman who was robbed, who, with the aid of her husband, told police while she was sitting in her car smoking, an African American man with "a little" facial hair and a black face covering opened her car door, grabbed her by the neck and took her purse which contained $1500 in cash, two debit cards in her name, an iPhone, an Indiana driver's license in her name, a social security card in her name, and a green card in her name.
The victim was able to give police the license plate number of the suspect's getaway vehicle.
Police say they were able to locate that vehicle, later determined to be a Toyota Camry, on Flock cameras at various times and noted the vehicle was also hitting Flock cameras in Muncie.
Officers located the Camry and responded to its location. Authorities say later Flock analysis puts the Camry in the area of the robbery around the time it happened.
Officers knocked on the door and were met by Anderson.
In plain view in the Camry, documents state officers noticed a black face covering. Officers spoke with the other residents of the home, Anderson's mother and two other juvenile residents who stated they didn't know what Anderson was doing that night.
Anderson's mother cooperated with the police.
Authorities got a search warrant for the Camry and the residence where Anderson came out of.
In the residence officers located two debit cards with the victim's name on them in a book on the dining room table and $1,170 in currency in one of the juvenile's rooms, according to court documents.
Both the occupant of the bedroom and Anderson's mother denied the money as being theirs. Inside the Camry, police found Anderson's ID
Officers also collected fingerprints believed to belong to the robber, but further analysis has yet to be done.
Anderson is currently held at the St. joseph County Jail on a $3,000 bond.
