Police rescue 12-year-old girl from Ann Arbor man's car Sunday

COLOMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- The Coloma Township Police Department reports on Sunday, and Amber Alert was issued and broadcast for a 12-year-old Waterloo, Iowa girl. It was reported a 24-year-old Ann Arbor, Mich. man had taken her without parental permission.

During the Amber Alert's broadcast, detectives tracking the girl's phone determined it to be heading east on I-94 in Berrien County near Coloma Township.

Detectives also released a description of the suspect vehicle.

An officer with the CTPD then observed the suspect vehicle on I-94 near the Watervliet Exit 41.

The report states the officer then followed the car before making a traffic stop.

The officer on scene located the girl in the vehicle and the driver, identified as Daniyal Khan, was taken into custody.

The Waterloo Police Department was then informed of the outcome.

Khan was arrested on a fugitive hold out of Iowa pending further charges and extradition back to Iowa.

The girl was reunited with her parents after they drove from Iowa to the police department.
