Man accused of strangulation, domestic battery after girlfriend's prank
ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. - A man was arrested after allegedly attacking his girlfriend alongside his juvenile sister following a prank, according to the probable cause affidavit.
Andrew Wright, 22, was arrested on the charges of battery resulting in serious bodily injury, strangulation, and domestic battery.
On September 1, officers with the Roseland Police Department and the St. Joseph County Police Department were called to a hotel in Roseland for a disturbance.
Officers met with the victim and saw she had a bleeding and swollen lip.
The victim told police she took her boyfriend's wallet as a prank before going into the bathroom at the hotel.
Her boyfriend was identified as Wright.
While she was in the bathroom, Wright's juvenile sister allegedly forced her way into the stall the victim was in, demanded the wallet, and began punching the victim in the face, reports said.
Wright then came into the bathroom and allegedly strangled the victim to the point that the victim lost consciousness.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Officers detained both Wright and his sister but did not get statements from them.
Wright is being held at the St. Joseph County Jail on a $2,500 bond.
He is due in court on October 10.
