Magic Johnson to speak at LMC Aug. 23
BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Lake Michigan College announced over the weekend that Michigan State alumni and NBA Hall of Famer Earvin 'Magic' Johnson will be on campus to speak at the Mendel Center on Aug. 23 as part of the Lake Michigan College Speaker Series.
"One of the most decorated professional basketball players in history, off the court Magic Johnson has built a successful entrepreneurial portfolio in sports, business, and technology," organizers said. "He is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Magic Johnson Enterprises, an investment conglomerate that provides high-quality products and services that focus primarily on ethnically diverse and underserved urban communities."
The event will start with a dinner at 5 p.m. with Johnson set to speak around 6:30 p.m.
The cost of the event is $85, but tickets for Johnson's presentation can be bought separately for $50.
"His business accomplishments range from unprecedented partnerships with Sony Pictures and Starbucks to constantly evolving and remaining relevant in a dynamic digital age by broadening his scope into infrastructure and technology," organizers said. "During his Lake Michigan College Speaker Series appearance, Johnson will share experiences from his ground-breaking business career and time as a champion on the basketball court."
