Local kids participate in ND Thinkers Camp

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Some area kids got a chance to learn what it takes to write a song.

It was part of Notre Dame's Innovative Thinks Camp program.

Nearly 20 kids from several non-profit groups wrote the lyrics to a song.

Nick Ortega, 16, who wrote the South Bend Anthem gave the kids some advice that campers took.

"When you have the opportunity to do something that you really want to do, just go head and try it because you don't know if you'll have that opportunity again," Terianna Thomas, one of the campers, said.

The camp runs for two weeks and includes such programs as web app design.
