LANSING, Mich, - Michigan residents who are facing foreclosures on their homes have a second are being offered a second chance.
State officials say there are still about $40 million in no-interest loans available for homeowners who are behind on their property taxes.
The loans are part of the Step Forward Michigan Program.
The program has helped more than 34,000 Michigan homeowners since 2010.
To qualify, a homeowner must be a Michigan resident, must have at least partial ownership on the property, must live at the property as their primary residence, and must have enough income to cover the mortgage, condo fees, or property taxes in the future.
Any homeowner convicted in the past 10 years of a financial-related felony is not eligible.
