Local Black Leaders recognized Thursday
LaGrange, Ind. -- The devastation down South has many across Michiana wondering what they can do to help.
Employees at One Way Plumbing in St. Joseph County Michigan plan to fill cargo trailers with essentials and take the trip down with some assistance from the LaGrange community.
They are now accepting donations at The LaGrange Town Hall and Fire Department through Thursday evening to help first responders and locals impacted by the storm.
The local fire department, that is made up completely of volunteers, hopes to help in anyway they can.
They are asking for cases of water, non- perishables, and cash donations.
"This is why we join as volunteers to help people in the worst time and certainly that's worse than probably anything we've ever personally experienced and so we wanna do everything we can to be a part,” said Captain Thurston Jones.
Dan Hofstetted who is making the trip said they plan to leave Friday and spend 5 days near Asheville, North Carolina.
