La Porte police looking for man who stabbed woman

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- La Porte County Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who pretended to have car trouble and then robbed and stabbed a woman who pulled over to help.

It happened just before 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon near the intersection of West 250 South and South 100 West.

Detectives say a woman pulled over to help a man dressed in white, in his mid-50s with long hair. He was also wearing a red hoody.

The man appeared to have car trouble.

When the woman stopped to help, the man stabbed her and stole her purse.

"It's unfortunate but yes we all have that nature to help somebody buy yeah, be extra cautious and aware of what's going on when you stop to help somebody," Det. John Burger of the La Porte County Police Department said.

Thankfully the woman only suffered minor injuries. The suspect was last seen driving a white Hyundai Sonata.
