FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- It was a heartbreaking end of the road for a promising Knox team that had an unforgettable season.
Fort Wayne Bishop Luers handed them their only loss this season and left them scoreless in Friday's semi state game, finishing 35-0.
Ultimately, the Redskins weren't able to recover from penalties, missed opportunities, and a tough Bishop Luers defense.
Still the nation's top rushing leader by a longshot, Knox's Myles Mclaughin came up short of the all-time high school rushing record, rushing for 30 yards.
Mclaughlin's name will still be near the top of the leaderboard, ending the season with 11,791 yards.
The Bishop Luers Knights will be making the trip down to Indianapolis next week to compete in the 3A State Championship game. Their opponent is dependent on a semi state being played Friday between Cascade and Gibson Southern.
