Irish Football icons return for 4th annual Golic Family Foundation SubPar Classic

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Sunday was day two of the fourth annual Golic Family Foundation SubPar Classic.

Last Night's Kickoff Party at Notre Dame Stadium got the weekend started, and today, even in the blistering heat, Notre Dame legends and celebrities hit the green for the main event.

"Everybody kinda just gets to relax, have a few drinks, golf 18, it's kinda the culmination of the weekend for us raising money," stated Mike Golic Sr.

Dozens of Fighting Irish Football icons flying into town to tee off and support the community they once called home.

Golic Sr. stating, "The turnout has been amazing. The celebrities that come into town, we really appreciate their time and we're able to raise a lot of money for the community."

Legends of Notre Dame spotted on the green, like Irish running back legend Allen Pinkett from the Faust era to former tight end Kyle Rudolph from the Charlie Weis and Brian Kelly era.

And the team coming in first place, including former Notre Dame and Indianapolis Colts Safety Mathias Farley and current Notre Dame Offensive Coordinator Mike Denbrock.

"You get a mix of guys who played during different eras, and even before that, guys who played for Lou Holtz, etc. So it's awesome to see everyone kind of blend together," stated Former Notre Dame Quarterback Brady Quinn.

Charity at the heart of it all.

"Nothing better than playing 18 holes and getting a lot of time to talk to everyone, talk Notre Dame football, talk about what they've been doing since they've been gone, and then obviously talking about giving back to this community," stated Former Notre Dame Quarterback Ian Book.

Proceeds from The Golf Classic are donated to five local organizations: The Humane Society, Center for the Homeless, The Logan Center, Cultivate Food Rescue, and The Ronald Mcdonald House.

In total, the foundation has been able to give over $400,000 to over 35 local organizations in its four years.

"I think Mr. Golic said it perfectly. Obviously, we're all a part of the Notre Dame family, we're all a part of that community. But we wouldn't have that family and that community if it wasn't for the South Bend community. And the South Bend community has supported us for many years and now for the fourth year in a row, we're able to have something here because of the Golic family to support this community," stated Former Notre Dame Tight End Kyle Rudolph.
