The investigation into the accused Michigan State University gunman, Anthony McRae, has only just begun.
Police are still searching for a motive, collecting evidence and interviewing witnesses.
Thanks to a phone tip from a witness, police were able to locate McRae at approximately 11:35 pm.
And according to police, McRae also died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to ABC, investigators say McRae had psychiatric issues and they found a “3-page document expressing his reasons for the attack and a number of additional locations in Lansing and Holt, Michigan, Ewing Township, Franklin Park, New Jersey and Colorado Springs, Colorado, which had ‘hurted’ him. Therefore, were deserving of attack.”
ABC is reporting that agents believe “personal grievances” with people at those locations are the reasons why they were mentioned in the writing.
According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, McRae was sentenced in November of 2019 for an illegal possession of a loaded firearm.
He was discharged with no supervision conditions in May of 2021.
Records indicate McRae was a resident of Lansing, Michigan. He had no connection to either Michigan State University or any of the victims. Police say he walked from his house to the school.
