COLLEGE STATION, Texas. -- Week one of college football has arrived for Notre Dame and so has sports betting with ABC57's LeVon Whittaker.
It's the first game of the season and that makes it difficult to decide where to place your money strategically. For that reason, we took a poll on Facebook and X/Twitter to see what fans decide.
The options were Notre Dame +2.5, Texas A&M -2.5, Over/Under 46.5, or a parlay. 51% of voters chose Notre Dame +2.5.
What's the reason for the 2.5 spread in favor of A&M? Home field advantage. But if you're going to take Notre Dame to cover the spread at +2.5, my advice is, just take the Irish to win the game and get more bang for your buck with + odds.
With all that being said, my lock for this game is the under 46.5 points. You look at this game and both teams have inexperienced offensive lines, two quarterbacks coming back from injury, new offensive coordinators, and great defenses. It's week one with a lot on the line, this game will start and end slow.
Of course I can't let you go without a parlay. As sports gamblers, you tend to do what we call "throw a little something on this parlay with extremely high odds". Although it's not my favorite, I have faith in two lines.
At +811 odds, I like the following:
Notre Dame First drive result: Field Goal Attempt
First half total: Under 23.5
Enjoy. Good luck. Play responsibly!
