ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. – Inmates in the Program Ward at the Elkhart County Jail made and donated approximately 175 hats to The Window in Goshen on Wednesday.

After a successful donation last year, inmates made the hats again.

Two inmates also made personalized hats for Sheriff Siegel and for Ed Swartley from the Window.

"Not only am I proud of the work of our programming officers who created the knitting program, but I am also extremely proud of the hard work of these individuals who are giving back to our community," said Sheriff Siegel.

The inmates plan to donate hats to at least four more nonprofit organizations in the coming weeks.

If you would like to donate yarn to the inmates who make hats, please bring donations to the jail.
