Goshen Community Schools celebrates grand opening of new sports complex
GOSHEN, Ind. -- Goshen Community Schools celebrated the grand opening for a brand-new sports complex on Saturday morning.
It's called the Goshen High School Softball and Baseball Complex, located behind Prairie View Elementary School.
The new facility is set to improve game continuity despite northern Indiana's uncertain weather.
The complex is complete with a concession building, coaches offices, team locker rooms, and the brand-new turf field will allow games to be played even in rainy conditions, on par with most local sports complexes.
"It's very important for the kids in our whole community," says Jim Pickard, the Athletic Director at Goshen High School. "It levels the playing field for teams around us that are getting turf. I think we've even upped it a little bit with our concession building and our we have our coaches have offices here. We have our team locker rooms here. It's important."
"This is just, this is great for not only our student athletes, but our whole community, and we hope to keep progressing from here," Pickard continues.
The new facility has already garnered strong community support.
