Indiana and Michigan offering booster doses of COVID-19 vaccine

The CDC has approved booster doses for the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines. Booster doses of the Pfizer vaccine have been available since September.

If you received the Johnson & Johnson single dose vaccine more than two months ago, you are now eligible for a booster dose.

Booster doses of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines are available for the following populations 6-months or longer after their initial doses.

  • People age 65 years and older
  • Age 18+ who live in long-term care settings
  • Age 18+ who have underlying medical conditions
  • Age 18+ who work or live in high-risk settings

Eligible individuals may choose which vaccine they receive as a booster dose. Some people may have a preference for the vaccine type that they originally received and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.

In Indiana, if you want a booster dose, go to www.ourshot.in.gov to find a location or call 211.

Michigan residents can go to this website and find a location near you. You can also call the COVID-19 Hotline at 888-535-6136 (press 1) 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.
