NOW: How the Hoosiers and the Irish do in colder weather

Let’s look at the stats from the coldest games that both the Irish and the Hoosiers have seen this season. IU has seen the colder game of the two teams, with their November 30th game against Purdue having a kickoff temperature of 28 degrees. The Hoosiers did rack up 66 points against the Boilermakers in fairly similar conditions to what we are expecting on Friday. Notre Dame’s coldest game had to be the Florida State game on November 9th, but the kickoff temperature was in the low 50s, South Bend was just seeing very gusty conditions that Saturday, feels like temperatures falling into the 30s through the game, compared to the teens that IU saw. Both teams did win against their opponent in the coldest game of their respective seasons, but Friday is looking like it may be the coldest game for both teams.

Right now, we have an expected high of 32 degrees for Friday, with snow expected in the morning hours, but not in the evening hours. With a high not expected to get above freezing and cloudy conditions, that snow is expected to stick through the entire day. Cold conditions through the tailgate, likely seeing the high for the day before kickoff, and the temps dropping into the mid 20s through the game. We also could expect to see some breezy conditions through the game, so bundle up if you are headed around South Bend or stay warm and catch history here on ABC 57.
