Beautify Goshen Week returns with free large-item disposal May 3-10

City of Goshen

GOSHEN, Ind. – The City of Goshen announced it will launch its annual spring cleanup initiative during Beautify Goshen Week, which will take place May 3, through 10.

The free initiative, led by Goshen Street Department, offers residents a way to dispose of bulky items and unwanted materials.

The City’s drop-off site is at 475 Steury Ave. and will be open from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on both Saturdays.

The site will be closed on May 4.

City officials say the street department will also conduct two rounds of brush and leaf pickup citywide during the event.

“This event gives residents a great opportunity to clean up their properties and dispose of bulky items responsibly,” said Street Commissioner David Gibbs. “We see a strong turnout every year and appreciate everyone who takes part.”

Staff will verify Goshen residency at the drop-off site by checking photo IDs. Curbside pickup is not available.

Residents must take their items to the street department site.

Hoppers will be provided for household items, appliances, electronics, televisions, and tires. Staff will also be on site to monitor all drop-offs and ensure safe, proper disposal.

Items not accepted include hazardous materials such as paint, chemicals, propane tanks, pressurized containers, and unlabeled drums. Residents looking to get rid of these should visit the Elkhart County Landfill. You can learn more about what to do with hazardous waste on the county landfill's website.
