ELKHART, Ind. -- ABC57 News went to Elkhart Health & Aquatics at 200 E. Jackson Blvd. on Friday where INSOURCE organized the second annual "Hoops with Heart," a one-day basketball camp for students with disabilities.
Students in attendance learned the fundamentals of basketball while working with area coaches and players.
The students then get a chance to show off their red skills at an exhibition for parents and community members.
"The goal is inclusion. The goal is to play sports and make friendships and make the opportunity for people with disabilities just to be a part, you know, be part of what everybody should be entitled to be a part of. Absolutely," said Beth Ernsberger, Associate Director at INSOURCE.
The event kicked off Thursday with a fundraiser at Wellfield Botanic Gardens.
The fundraiser featured a silent auction, a string trio, and an opportunity for attendees to participate in "Groovin’ in the Gardens," a musical concert at Wellfield.
