Hoekstra will seek to unseat Stabenow in November

PONTIAC, Mich. -- A former U.S. Representative will continue his effort to become Michigan's next  U.S. Senator.

On Tuesday, Pete Hoekstra on the GOP nomination for the U.S. Senate.

He defeated three other candidates. He thanked them for making his campaign stronger.

Now his campaign is focusing on the general election and Democrat Debbie Stabenow.

"We're going to hold the president accountable, we're going to hold the followwer-in-chief, Debbie Stabenow, accountable because we can do better," Hoekstra said.

Stabenow is a two-term incumbent.
