Hit and run leaves one injured in Elkhart County

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports there was a hit and run crash around 3:40 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, at the intersection of C.R. 26 and C.R. 9.

The report states a silver Honda was traveling south on C.R. 9 toward C.R. 26 when it rear-ended a 2024 Hyundai Venue, driven by 43-year-old John Simpson of Elkhart.

The Honda then fled the scene east on C.R. 26 from C.R. 9.

Simpson stated he was stopped at the four-way stop at C.R. 26 and C.R. 9 when he was rear-ended by the Honda which fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Simpson was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

He was then taken to the hospital for neck, back, and leg pain.

The Honda suffered front-end damage from the crash.

Simpson's Hyundai received heavy rear-end damage.
