Grand Rapids woman dead after single-vehicle crash, deputies investigating

ABC 57

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the intersection of C.R. 800 South and C.R. 900 West on Sunday around 11:11 a.m. for a single-vehicle crash.

Authorities' initial on-scene investigation determined a green 2001 Ford Ranger, driven by 31-year-old Rebecca L. Kuiper of Grand Rapids, Mich., was traveling east on C.R. 800 South.

Deputies say the Ranger then went off the road west of C.R. 900 West onto the gravel shoulder.

The report states Kuiper then overcorrected the truck which then began to slide sideways in the road.

The truck then rolled over several times at the intersection of C.R. 800 South and C.R. 900 West.

Kuiper was ejected from the truck.

The truck came to a stop on the south side of C.R. 800 South in a field.

Kuiper was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Kuiper later passed away from her injuries.

Authorities say toxicology test results are pending, and no further information is available at this time.
