NILES, Mich – The Grand LV is one of many projects in Niles that’s bringing economic hope to Niles.
ABC57 has covered the housing development and businesses that are bringing business to the area.
“Don and Melanie Kennedy are restoring this building they’re turning it into one of the jewels of Niles,” Program Director at the Niles Downtown Development Authority Lisa Croteau said.
The historic building has a long history in Niles from being an Elks Temple to being a local gathering spot decades later.
Owner and President of the Grand LV Donny Kennedy says it all began last year when they bought the historic building.
“My wife and I purchased what used to be the old elks building originally built in 1928 here in Niles Michigan in the spring of las year,” Kennedy says.
The 21,000 square foot building is currently being remodeled, and now features an even space that hosts weddings and wedding receptions, a space that a locally owned brewery that will open next year and an upper level overlooking Niles.
Donny says the building and its important are important and bringing life to the historic structure will hopefully contribute to Niles’ economic boom
“I’m hoping that he can create here and hopefully be a part of is that residents of Southwest Michigan where it’s Dowagic or St. Joe or whatever maybe they stop in Niles,” Kennedy said.
