South Bend Community Police Review Board met Thursday night
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb, alongside Amazon representatives, hosted an official ground-breaking ceremony for the AWS Data Center in New Carlisle on Monday, five months after construction first began.
Representatives from the IEDC as well as numerous organizations supporting the project from within Saint Joseph County were also in attendance.
Amazon announced that on top of its investment of $11 billion, they'd also be committing $250,000 to a grant-based program offering funding for underserved communities and developments in the county.
This is in addition to the expected $7 million already contributed to an infrastructure boost of State Road 2 in New Carlisle, where the center is being built.
Indiana Secretary of Commerce, David Rosenberg, noted that through three quarters of the year so far, the Hoosier state has already put together $38.4 billion in committed capital investment.
An Amazon official also noted that A.I. Will likely play a role in the future facility once it's complete.
