Goshen Theater offering youth mental health workshop in May

GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Goshen Theater Education Department, in collaboration with the Elkhart County Health Department, will be bring a Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification to the community next month.

Residents of the area can become certified during the training session that will take place on May 4 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Goshen Theater.

In order to attend this workshop, you must be at least 18 years old and pre-registered by April 17. The cost will be $25, and lunch will be provided for all of the participants.

Prior to attending the in-person workshop on May 4, participants must complete an online course.

"This class teaches you to identify, understand, and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health challenges in children and adolescence ages 12-18," said Katie Barnes, Goshen Theater Education Director. "We are so excited to have our second annual YMHFA certification at Goshen Theater; and to be working with National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Elkhart County Health Department again. We encourage all adults in our community to take advantage of this training to better serve our youth. You could be the difference in someone’s life."
