NOW: Goshen Health announces intent to partner with Parkview Health

GOSHEN, Ind. -- Goshen Health announced on Tuesday that its board entered a letter of intent to partner with Parkview Health.

Officials say with this partnership, Goshen Health would become Parkview's largest hospital outside of Fort Wayne and will serve as a regional hub for care, access, and growth.

Goshen Health's President and CEO, Randy Christophel, tells ABC 57 this partnership will increase the amount of people they can serve.

"As we come together and officially become part of Parkview Health, this will help us expand our clinical abilities, our clinical capabilities, the challenging, complex patients that we'll be taking on. We're also excited of we'll be accepting patients from a broader region, from a referral sense"

Christophel says additional capabilities such as primary care and more specialists is what they and the people they serve will gain from the partnership.

Partnership plans include strengthening clinical services, expanding access to care, supporting clinical excellence, and building a strong, sustainable healthcare system for the future, according to officials.

“For more than 100 years, Goshen Health has served this community with compassion, accountability, respect, and excellence,” said Randy Christophel, President and Chief Executive Officer of Goshen Health. “Our priority and community responsibility have always been about making sure patients receive excellent care close to home. Today’s healthcare environment requires us to act proactively to ensure our community continues to have access to the care, services, and specialists it needs now and in the future.”

The partnership is set to begin with a 90-day due diligence period, followed by a regulatory review process, officials said.

Officials say the final agreement will be reliant on the successful completion of due diligence, regulatory approvals, and final board approval.

Goshen Health officials noted there are no immediate changes to patient care, services, staffing, or day-to-day operations at this time.

Christophel shared with ABC 57 News that a full system integration will take years, however, there will be a name change. Rather than keeping the name Goshen Health, it will be changed to something similar to Parkview Health - Goshen, though an official name has not been decided.

Goshen Health’s hospital, clinics, services, and care teams will continue operating regularly.
