GOSHEN, Ind. -- Fourth-grader Jaden Espinosa Lopez was named Goshen’s newest “Kid Mayor” on Wednesday.
After receiving a majority vote from fellow fourth-graders across the city of Goshen, Lopez will now serve as Goshen’s “Kid Mayor” for a whole year.
"Thank you to all the people who voted for me. Thank you to my parents and teachers that helped me and supported me,” Lopez said.
Lopez will be responsible for running a Board of Works meeting as well as a City Council meeting in the future.
All of the fourth-grade finalists and Lopez will get an opportunity to tour city department buildings in Goshen.
