Democratic party presser addresses issues, omitted names reinstated

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Members of the St. Joseph County democratic party held a presser addressing the issues of names being removed from the November ballot.

Five members of the party were omitted from the ballot, but on Sept. 17, the St. Joseph County Superior court ruled the election board lacked the authority to omit the names. As a result of the court ruling, the clerk's office did comply with the judicial order and four of those names were added back to the ballots, though one person did not want to go back on the ballot.

"You know, I walked into a local government office trusting that the clerk's staff to be subject matter experts. When the government does not serve its constituents, but to a political party, this leads to mistrust and a failure of the office." says Autumn Kaylor, candidate for St. Joseph County Auditor.
