SOUTHPORT, Ind. - A fundraiser will be held this weekend to help the family of a fallen Indiana police officer.
People in Southport, Ind. are working to raise money to send the family, friends and coworkers of Lt. Aaron Allan to Washington D.C. for National Police Week next month.
Southport's police chief said they need to raise $40,000 to get everyone there.
Allan was shot and killed while on duty in July 2017.
Lt. Allan's name will be added to a memorial for fallen officers and his co-workers will be able to attend classes to learn how to cope with his death.
The fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 14 from 6 p.m. to 11p.m. at the Indiana State Police Alliance at 1415 Shelby Street in Indianapolis.
It will have a Monte Carlo Night theme with poker, black jack, roulette, drinks and food.
If you can't make it to the fundraiser, you can make a donation by sending a check to the Southport Police Department at 6901 Derbyshire Rd., Southport, IN 46227.
