ABC57 First Warning Neighborhood Weather Forecast
Saturday, January 8th, 2022
Roads could be hazardous this evening as a wintry mix of rain and freezing rain moves into Michiana. Numerous accidents have been reported in the icy conditions closer to Gary and the IN/IL state line as well as near Indianapolis. Use lots of caution on the roads tonight as a glaze to a tenth of an inch of ice is possible. That's not enough to cause power outages, but is definitely enough to cause crashes and/or slick conditions. The wintry mix will wrap up by 7 AM Sunday. Skies partially clear tomorrow, but it will be windy, with gusts of 35-40 mph possible for the middle of the day. Temperatures will fall fast through the 30s and 20s into the teens again by Sunday night. A quick round of snow is likely early Monday, especially for spots north of US-30. Most areas will pick up about an inch of snow. Tuesday is cold, but finally quiet. Highs will be above freezing for the second half of next week before another shot at light snow arrives Friday night.
Tonight: Freezing rain/freezing drizzle. Temperatures in the lower 30s.
Tomorrow: Wintry mix wraps up early, then partly cloudy and windy. Morning high of 35 falling to near 20 by the afternoon.
Monday: Snow in the morning, then mostly cloudy and cold. High 17. Snow accumulations of around an inch possible.
Tuesday: Partly sunny and chilly. High 24.
