SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Around 200 meals being distributed to families Wednesday night in South Bend. The Martin Luther King Jr. dream Center on South Bend’s West side handed out turkey dinners to those who may need it most.
The center teamed up with South Bend venues, parks, and arts to make the event possible. Each dinner came with turkey, sides, and dessert.
The event programmer saying during this time of year, it’s especially important to make an impact on the local community in any way possible.
"We can't control what goes on outside of this building, we can control what goes on inside of this building, so in this moment, we can control the reach that we have to the community and our ability to support at this time,” said Phillip Williams, the MLK Jr Dream Center program coordinator.
The city will host another giveaway on Thursday at the Charles Black community center, from 4 PM to 6 PM.
