Four arrested in Elkhart Monday after drugs found in High Street residence

ELKHART, Ind. -- Four Elkhart residents were arrested on April 14 when Elkhart Police Department officers served a warrant at a residence on W. High Street and found multiple drugs and firearms.

EPD reports that officers applied for a search warrant of the residence after they witnessed synthetic marijuana being sold. 

"[An] EPD officer applied for a search warrant based on eight stops in a three-hour period in which officers seized approximately 42.5 total grams of 'tune' (synthetic marijuana, a controlled substance) off seven of the individuals," the EPD said.

"Later that day, shortly before 5 p.m., EPD officers executed the judicially approved search warrant on an apartment in the 500 block of W. High St. The Elkhart County Regional SWAT team assisted with the execution of the warrant.

Four people were in the residence at the time the warrant was executed, and all of them were taken into custody while the search warrant was executed.

"Officers seized marijuana, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, firearms, and purported synthetic drugs (“tune”) from the apartment pursuant to the warrant," the EPD said.

"Approximately 356 grams of purported synthetic marijuana was seized from the apartment. All four individuals were arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail in connection with this investigation."

On Wednesday, April 16, Elkhart County judicial officer found probable cause for their arrests and set bond amounts for each person

Charges for each individual:

  • Darrius Dillon, 33 years old of Elkhart, was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of Dealing in a Controlled Substance, a Level 2 Felony; Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon, a Level 4 Felony; Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Level 6 Felony; Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony; Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor; and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor. He was also arrested and booked into the Jail on outstanding and unrelated warrants. His bond was set at $150,000 in this case.
  • Anthony Givens, 63 years old of Elkhart was arrested and booked on preliminary charges of Maintaining a Common Nuisance, a Level 6 Felony; Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor; and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor. His bond was set at $3,000.
  • Selena Colon, 26 years old of Elkhart, was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 6 Felony; Visiting a Common Nuisance, a Class B Misdemeanor; and Possession of Paraphernalia, a Class C Misdemeanor. She was also arrested and booked into the Jail on an outstanding and unrelated warrant. Her bond was set at $3,000 in this case.
  • Maria Willis, 50 years old of Elkhart, was arrested and booked into the Elkhart County Jail on preliminary charges of Possession of Marijuana, a Class B Misdemeanor and Visiting a Common Nuisance, a Class B Misdemeanor. Her bond was set at $1,500.

The arrests have been forwarded by the EPD to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office for review of formal criminal charges.
