Former township trustee pleads guilty to theft, misconduct

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. – The former Olive Township Trustee pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and one count of official misconduct Monday.
John Michalski, 72, used town funds for his own personal use between December 2009 and November 14, 2011.
The investigation began in 2012 based on a report generated by the State Board of Accounts.
After the investigation concluded, the findings of the investigation were presented to a grand jury.
On January 24, 2013, the grand jury indicted Michalski.
Sentencing will be July 15, 2013.
The possible penalty for each count is between 6 months and three years.
Michalski has made restitution in full, according to the prosecutor’s office.
