A Florida lifeguard helped save a swimmer, but then got fired for doing it.
Tomas Lozez was working on a beach in Southern Florida, Monday afternoon, when a beach goer ran up to him and said a man was struggling in the water.
Lozez and an off-duty nurse helped until EMS arrived, but after the rescue he was fired for leaving his assigned area on the beach.
"I’m not going to put my job over helping someone,” said Thomas Lozez. “I'm going to do what I felt was right and I did it."
Lozez is not the only one who's in trouble. Another lifeguard was fired and four others quit to show their support.
