First ever cross-county open mic hosted by Speak Our Truth Project

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Mic Check: Voices for the Movement has been announced by the Speak Our Truth Project and will unite communities from Elkhart, St. Joseph, and Kosciusko Counties for a powerful night of social justice storytelling, creative expression, and community building.
The event will take place from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on July 12 at LangLab, 1302 High Street, South Bend.
Mic Check: Voices for the Movement is an event for all ages with spoken word, poetry, music, visual art, and dance highlighting the lived experiences and voices behind movements for child safety and human rights in Indiana.
"This is a platform for those who have been silenced or overlooked by oppressive systems — a celebration of survival, solidarity, and collective action," said Rachel Van Alstine, Child Safety & Human Rights Activist of the Speak Our Truth Project.
Food trucks will be onsite and LangLab's vibrant setting includes a café, 21+ bar, and gallery exhibits.
The Speak Our Truth Project invites local press and community members to attend, share in this evening of artistic resistance, and amplify the stories that demand change.
