Consistent snowfall amidst bone-chilling cold
According to North Berrien Fire, firefighters arrived to the fruit farm around 1:30 a.m. on Carmody Road near Friday Road to find the front of the 4,500 square foot building fully engulfed.
The NBF fire chief said the fire then spread through the rafters to the rest of the building, ultimately causing it to collapse.
There were no animals inside but the owners did lose last year's apple crop that was stored in a cooler.
The fire chief said the current owners purchased the property a couple of years ago and just added new equipment Thursday.
A cause has not been determined.
