IU South Bend to host free Pop-up University for therapists and the public on Thursday
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Officials with IU South Bend announced they will host a free Pop-up University at LangLab in South Bend on Thursday at 7 p.m.
Organizers invite the public to join psychotherapist and Doctor of Psychology Kurt Hanus for a talk on healing developmental trauma.
There will also be a therapist training session.
The topic of the talk will be “The Psychoanalytic Therapist: Using Depth, Insight, and the Relationship to Heal Developmental Trauma.”
Organizers say the talk will discuss how some people who experience early childhood neglect, abuse, and abandonment develop patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating that were adaptive in the moment but no longer work as adults.
University officials explain that Dr. Hanus will use contemporary psychoanalytic theory to describe an in-depth, insight and relationship-oriented therapeutic process that fosters self-activation, awareness, esteem, and healthy attachment.
LangLab is located at 1502 High St. in South Bend.
Organizers add that for licensed therapists that attend, one hour of continuing education units will be granted.
There will be a sign-in sheet available to document attendance at the end of the presentation.
You can find more information about the program on the official Facebook event page.
