Firearms, drugs recovered in home South Bend bomb squad was called to
SOUTH BEND, Ind. - Police recovered firearms and drugs at a home on Marine Street Wednesday, according to the South Bend Police Department. The department's bomb squad was also called to the scene after a suspicious item was found.
Officers with the department's Strategic Focus Unit performed a search warrant at a home in the 1900 block of Marine St. as part of an investigation into drug activity in the area.
Inside the home, police found the following, reports said:
- Six firearms, two of which were allegedly stolen
- Approximately one kilogram (about 2.2 pounds) of cocaine
- 120 grams (about 0.3 pounds) of heroin
- 48 grams (about 0.12 pounds) of marijuana
- Four grams of methamphetamine
- A large amount of U.S. currency
The department's bomb squad was also called to the home after officers found a suspicious item that appeared to be dynamite, according to reports.
The bomb squad safely removed it from the scene.
Three people were arrested during the investigation.
Lazarus McKinney, Jr., 24, was arrested on the charges of dealing and possessing cocaine, marijuana, methamphetamine, and heroin.
Jamaria Ware-Curtis, 30, was arrested on the charges of maintaining a common nuisance, four counts of neglect of a dependent, and possession of cocaine, marijuana, and heroin.
James Hover, 61, was arrested on the charge of visiting a common nuisance.
