UPDATE: 21-year-old found not guilty of murdering stepfather at Castle Point Apartments
UPDATE: Corey Young's jury trial took place on Sept. 23-24 in St. Joseph County for one count of Murder.
The jury found Young not guilty on the afternoon of Sept. 24.
The court acquitted him and ordered Young to be released from custody.
Jail logs show he was released Sept. 25.
UPDATE: The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office announced it has charged Corey Young in the stabbing of his stepfather Lee Alexis.
Young is charged with one count of Murder.
He will be arraigned on Monday, Jan. 13, at 1 p.m.
ORIGINAL STORY: SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Joesph Police Department responded to a call at approximately 4:32 p.m. at the 800 Block of the Castle Point Apartments.
A caller reported her son stabbed her husband. Officers arrived to find 34-year-old Lee Alexis with stab wounds to the chest. Medical personnel immediately transported Alexis to the emergency room.
A short time later in another area of Castle Point, officers located Alexis' stepson, 21-year-old Corey Antoine Demetris Young.
Lee Alexis died a short time later in the hospital earlier this evening and an autopsy has been scheduled for Friday. Young was arrested and transported to the St. Joseph County Jail.
St. Joesph County detectives continue to investigate this homicide.
