Fatal crash reported in Silver Creek Township

CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Cass County Sheriffs were called to investigate a single-car crash in Silver Creek Township on Friday around 6:07 p.m. The crash took place on Sister Lakes Road, north of Haley Road.

The driver was identified as Derrick Hydron, a 39-year-old resident of Niles. Hydron did pass away due to the injuries sustained at the crash, according to deputies.

An investigation at the scene revealed that Hydron lost control of his vehicle on the curve of Sister Lakes Road, went off the road and rolled his car, deputies said.

Drugs and alcohol are suspected to be a factor in the crash, deputies said. According to the report, a seatbelt was not worn.

This crash remains under investigation.
