NOW: Family friendly event “grows“ agriculture knowledge in St. Joseph County

St. Joseph County, Ind -- All things Agriculture are taking over the St. Joseph County Fairgrounds this weekend.

St. Joe County's Ag Days are back for this season with live animals, tractor pulls, food, and more. Attendees told ABC57 they had an "Ag"-Cellent time.

The 3-day Free event is still going on through Sunday April 2nd from 11a.m- 4p.m.

While there is plenty of fun to be had, the event is also educational, informing the community on the importance of local agriculture, through live animals, and hands-on exhibits, with this goal in mind,

"its important to know where our food comes from…as consumers we have to be educated, getting that connection to where your food comes from is very important, it doesn't just come from the grocery store someone has to produce it…" according to James Kemble The Vice Chair of the St. Joseph County Ag Team.

He also encourages shopping local,

"There's always a local option, so exploring those local options, there's probably someone that’s selling eggs in the neighborhood, or an opportunity like that, the farmers market is great it doesn’t have to be from a big chain grocery store, find that local niche," he added.

The event has fun for all from baby goats to local produce, and its not too late to check it out!
