Elkhart's Millslagle honored with National Merit Scholarship

Elkhart High School

ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart High School announced earlier this week that senior Declan Millslagle has been selected as a winner of the National Merit Scholarship.

Students enter the competition during their junior year by taking the PSAT/National Merit Scholarship Quality Test.

School officials say that out of 1.3 million high school juniors entered, Millslagle was one of roughly 7,140 National Merit Scholarship recipients nationwide.

"The National Merit Scholarship Program is an annual academic competition among high school students for recognition and college scholarships that began in 1955," the program's website states. "The program is conducted by National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®), a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance."
