EATON COUNTY, Mich. -- At 9:00 a.m. troopers from the MSP Lansing Post responded to a car vs pedestrian crash on south I-69 near M-100 highway.

Preliminary investigation shows that a 52-year-old male from Dewitt, Michigan pulled onto the shoulder of the expressway to check his trailer that was having some mechanical issues. As a victim was checking his trailer, a vehicle traveling south on I-69 struck him, leaving the scene without stopping to check on the victim.

The victim suffered serious injuries from the crash and was transported to University of Michigan Hospital in Lansing.

Troopers located vehicle parts from the suspected vehicle. Troopers are requesting assistance from the public locating a late model, 2017-2023 gray Jeep Compass SUV. The vehicle should have heavy front-right damage.
